Are You Ready to Give Up Dieting?

Are You Ready to Give Up Dieting?

We are now one month into the new year, which means even 30 days have passed since you committed another resolution to lose weight once and for all. But have you ever taken the time to reflect on the methods you have chosen again and again to achieve your weight loss goals? How many diets have you actually went on and off in your life? Did they work? If so, for how long?

The sad truth I am about to share with you is that diets do not work. Initially, the diet can be fun and even exciting. You think "this time it will work this time, I will stay committed." And you do. The weight will come off and this is a very euphoric feeling. But for many people to chronic dieters, weight always ends up back once the diet is over. That is why the regime is not the solution to achieve long-term weight loss. In fact, statistics show that 46% of people who make a resolution of weight loss never make it past six months. The reason is that dieting is difficult. Calorie restriction affects your mood and deprive yourself of your favorite foods can be tormented. Finally, you are giving your cravings that lead to overeating and a sense of failure.

If this sounds like you and you experience a yo-yo cycle of success and failure, you can probably relate negative feelings dieting imposed on your life. It's pretty exhausting to constantly have to obsess about food. Unlike this regime has taught you, the food is not the enemy and everyone deserves to eat regardless of size or shape.

If you take a step back and consider the advantages and disadvantages that dieting has brought you in the past, your list might look like this:

Pro: lost a lot of weight in a short time

Con: Felt hunger was upset, could not concentrate, missed eating my favorite foods, was not pleasant, always thinking about what I ate, regained all the weight, felt guilty, felt like a failure

Dieting instills a life long obsession with the image of the food and the body is debilitating mentally, emotionally and physically with. What you may not realize is that these issues are actually caused by dieting (what the food industry would rather keep hush, hush). If you have gone through the cycle of dieting for years without long-term success, you might have reached a very critical point known as "regime merits". Touch the food substance means you do not have the energy or inner strength to go on another diet. You are exhausted regime, to think how each bite will affect your weight, counting calories and depriving yourself of the foods you love. You can not just do it anymore.

Touch the food background, believe it or not, is a place to be positive as is the first step out of the cycle of yo-yo dieting. It is important to know if you really hit the power base because there are solutions to achieve permanent weight loss that does not include diet alone. Understand for yourself if you are at this point is self-reflection in your personal eating habits and to be honest with yourself about how diet affected you throughout your life. Then, and only then you can move on to the next step to discover the biggest mistakes you made in the plan and from there, good feeding your mind, body and soul.
