Why Dieting Doesn't Work, Why You Put on Weight and Why Diets Are Bad for Your Health

Why Dieting Doesn't Work, Why You Put on Weight and Why Diets Are Bad for Your Health

Biologically your body will gain weight by dieting regular repetition. Do you know someone who has been on a diet for a month or two, lost weight, tells you about it, stopped the diet, put it on and then maybe a little more? This encourages them to go on another diet. They lose weight, stop eating and it all back on and another couple of books and so on. That is why they are not working.

The plans involves calorie restriction, which means it involves being hungry enough, many times. This is quite unpleasant. This feeling of hunger is designed to be an unpleasant evolutionary biology perspective.

This seems to be overlooked or ignored by many diets and clubs. This is a drop source for many people to well-meaning diet.

It saddens me that people pay good money for special diets or diet clubs, becoming unhappy when they do not get the results (I mean lasting results, three months do not count). When results are not achieved the person is said that it is because they have failed, making them not only bigger, poorer but also a failure. They also risk losing their social network of which they are the groups because you still can not turn and see your friends if you stopped feeding. This seems very sad, while those who run get richer and mislead millions of well-meaning people.

To lose weight, you must eat less than you burn. That's it.

... But it also means feeling a little hungry. It is only natural (and somewhat predictable).

So what to do about it?

All diets that cause weight loss do so with a negative balance of calories.

I'm sure you, like me have read sciencey sounding claims of the various diet fads. They sound impressive, but all come back to eat fewer calories than you expend.

A problem arises when you stop a diet. You are likely to be hungry and may have been less active than before (hunger makes you want to sit on the couch). The body is adapted to have fewer calories and when others are available, fixed fat much more efficiently than before, giving rapid weight gain. You can not help it.

It is not reset to zero residual of your body to be thinner than before, it will try to become bigger.

All plans have this effect when you stop. This is an important reason why dieters actually gain weight range. When you diet you encounter fewer calories in and this restriction does not feel good. It makes you want to exercise less. You will feel tired and are more likely to be sedentary, which means to lose weight, you will need to restrict calories more.

Your basal metabolic rate goes down. Your body's thermostat is turned down. When you finish this diet your body is working just slightly slower, burning fewer calories. It has become more effective. He moved for less than energy expenditure.

In terms of the survival of a small amount of food can be made to last longer, the downside to manage the size is that you only need a few calories a day and will easily eat in excess of that without really try.

Your body has slowed into starvation mode.

This effect is considered one of the plans is followed.

Compensation for this dip in basal metabolic rate is important when stopping a diet. It's like having your thermostat refused. The good news is that your body will react predictably. If it has slowed, it is not permanent. You simply need to tell your body that it's time to get up and go action.

The key to increase the volume on your basal metabolic rate:

Daily activity. Lots of it. If you can exercise - do a little (or a lot) of that every day. If you can not do that, then what you can.
Keep your brain as active as possible. Work your core muscles as much as you can eat well.
Lots of good nutrition and getting enough rest.
Reduce anxiety and stress and your body will start reacting well.
Get enough sleep.
Tone and build muscle if you can.
Enter your basal metabolic rate. It makes a big difference.

More another day ...
